Yuko Ikeda 池田優子
New works by Yuko Ikeda are now on view at ARJ Los Angeles (Santa Monica), beginning May 9th, 2026.
There is a quiet story inside each of Yuko Ikeda's vessels. Indigo fields, silver and platinum surfaces, rock-like crusts of white glaze, ovals that look like aerial coastlines. Things formed slowly, one at a time, from a place that has been paying close attention to the water for a long time.
A graphic designer turned self-taught ceramicist, Ikeda splits her time between Osaka and a second studio in coastal Tokushima, where tides set the rhythm of daily life, and that proximity has pushed her work somewhere deeper and more elemental. Her hand-built forms echo these elements through fluid lines and layered glazes. Each piece unfolds like a small landscape, blurring the line between functional ceramic and abstract painting.
We invite you to spend a moment with the work. To look closely. To find the one that asks you to stay.
