Matcha Bowl Sets

New In: Matcha Bowl Sets from Mino, Japan

The preparation of matcha is a simple ritual shaped by a few carefully chosen tools. Our new collection brings together matcha bowl sets from selected kilns in Gifu, a region known for the long ceramic tradition of Mino ware. Each set was chosen for the character of its form, glaze, and fired surface, with bowls ranging from softly rounded and straight-sided forms to more compact silhouettes.

The smaller nodate bowls take their name from the practice of preparing and sharing tea outdoors. Traditionally intended for a more portable tea setting, they are equally suited to preparing matcha at home. Each set includes a chasen, the bamboo whisk used to blend matcha into a smooth froth, and a chashaku, the slender bamboo scoop used to measure the tea. Presented together in a gift box, the sets offer a thoughtful introduction to matcha preparation as well as a considered addition to an established daily ritual.
