The U.S. Debut of CFCL × Hataman Touen: Porcelain Pottery
CFCL’s first tableware collection, available in the United States exclusively through ARJ Los Angeles
ARJ Los Angeles is pleased to introduce Porcelain Pottery to the United States. Created by Japanese fashion brand CFCL—Clothing For Contemporary Life—in collaboration with Hataman Touen, the collection marks CFCL’s first venture into tableware.
Porcelain Pottery is available in the United States exclusively through ARJ Los Angeles.
Founded in Tokyo in 2020 by Yusuke Takahashi, following his tenure as a designer for ISSEY MIYAKE MEN, CFCL is known for sculptural 3D computer-knit garments that bring together advanced technology, everyday function, and responsible production.
The name stands for Clothing For Contemporary Life—a philosophy centered on creating pieces that fit naturally into the rhythms of contemporary living.
With Porcelain Pottery, that philosophy moves from clothing to the table. Inspired by CFCL’s signature POTTERY SKIRT, the collection translates the garment’s soft volume and rhythmic folds into porcelain. Knitwear and ceramics begin with different materials, yet both are constructed through layers and shaped into three-dimensional forms in which structure and surface are inseparable.
Developed with Hataman Touen in Okawachiyama, Saga Prefecture, the collection brings CFCL’s contemporary design language into dialogue with a tradition of Imari Nabeshima ware spanning more than 350 years. Hataman Touen’s depth of ceramic knowledge gives each sculptural form precision, tactility, and a quiet sense of presence.
The collection comprises eight forms—a teacup, a mug, a vase, two plates, and three bowls—offered in five colors. Each piece is made from Amakusa porcelain stone and fired at high temperatures. A glossy interior contrasts with a matte, sandblasted exterior, creating a softly tactile finish while retaining the practicality required for everyday use.
From a signature knit silhouette to a family of vessels, Porcelain Pottery is an exercise in translation: softness into structure, clothing into porcelain, and fashion into objects for daily life.
Porcelain Pottery is now available in the United States exclusively through ARJ Los Angeles.
