Kei Condo
Born in 1981 in Kasama City, Kei Kondo established his workshop in 2010 following a formative period as a JICA volunteer instructor in Bolivia. He is a central figure in the Kasama ware (Kasama-yaki) tradition, which is renowned for its "freestyle" nature and lack of strict stylistic constraints. This liberal environment allows Kondo to utilize the region’s durable, iron-rich clay while integrating unique global influences into his craft.
Kondo is most recognized for his signature yellow tableware, inspired by the vibrant earth hues of the Bolivian landscape. Designed with a "simple but big impact" philosophy, these pieces possess a moderate weight and thickness ideal for daily use. By bridging his Kasama roots with international inspiration, he creates functional stoneware that is exceptionally compatible with diverse modern cuisines.
