Tomokazu Furui, a talented woodworker born in Osaka in 1976, developed a deep connection with trees through his studies in ecology and wildlife research from 1995 to 2001, as well as daily mountain walks. Between 2002 and 2004, he honed his woodworking skills in Hida Takayama, where he gained an appreciation for wood's natural expressiveness. As a furniture artisan at Wood You Like Company in Tokyo (2004-2008), he earned recognition, including selection in the Takaoka Craft Competition (2006). In 2009, he founded his workshop in Kyoto, where he now creates exceptional tableware, blending his love for wood with a commitment to producing timeless, functional art.
