About Borgo delle Tovaglie
Founded in 1996 on via dei Tessitori, Bologna's ancient street of weavers, Borgo delle Tovaglie began with a single ambition: to make linen tablecloths worthy of the Italian table. The studio remains a family affair, now in its second generation since 2005, when Valentina Muggia and her husband Giuliano Di Paolo took over from Valentina's mother and carried the work forward with their own eclectic vision. Every piece is still made in the Bologna workshop, by hand, by craftsmen who have spent years mastering the finishes that define the house.
Collections move with the seasons rather than with trend, guided by what each moment calls for at the table. At the center of it all is their signature stain-resistant linen, a material that holds the beauty of handcraft without demanding it be kept out of reach of daily life. From embroidered tablecloths and gauzy napkins to placemats in over twenty colorways, each piece carries what the studio describes as a house without fixed rules, sewn to the wishes of the people who live in it.
