Hyun Han Lee, the lead artist of Hanlim Ceramics, came to ceramics by an unlikely path. After studying philosophy in Germany, he returned to Icheon, Korea, the country's most established center for ceramic production and home to over 300 working studios. Lee has spent more than two decades refining a practice that resists easy categorization, moving between bold, saturated color and quieter metallic finishes with equal fluency, guided more by curiosity than a single defining style.

His pieces are made in his Icheon studio through a process that prioritizes consistency of form and expressive surface treatment. Crinkle cups offered in a wide spectrum of playful colors sit alongside more restrained tableware, the work of an artist who remains genuinely open to where the work leads.
