Description
This piece is also highly versatile and works well as a free-use bowl—or even as a matcha bowl. A textured glaze is first applied as the base, followed by the firing of Hiougi-gai (fan scallop) shells onto the surface. Layers of silver and platinum are then applied and fired. The silver is repeatedly fired to bring out a rich, textured finish.
Not dishwasher or microwave safe.
As each piece is handmade, slight variations in color, shape, and size may occur compared to the photographs.

About Yuko Ikeda 池田優子
Yuko Ikeda, a graphic design graduate from Platt College in San Diego, began teaching herself ceramics after returning to Japan. Now based in Osaka, she focuses on solo exhibitions where her work blends fluid, expressive lines with the colors and textures of natural elements. Her creations evoke the essence of abstract paintings that unfold like landscapes, blurring the boundary between functional ceramics and art. Her work is primarily inspired by nature, drawing influence from the sea, shells, flowers, leaves, and snow.
