Yuko Ikeda Vase 01
Description
Using porcelain clay infused with washi paper, each piece is hand-formed using the coil-building technique. First, a glaze that forms delicate white crystals is applied and fired. Then, multiple layers of black underglaze and glaze are carefully added, creating depth and complexity. Through repeated firings, the surface develops a richly textured, intricate finish.
There are no water leaks.

About Yuko Ikeda 池田優子
Yuko Ikeda, a graphic design graduate from Platt College in San Diego, began teaching herself ceramics after returning to Japan. Now based in Osaka, she focuses on solo exhibitions where her work blends fluid, expressive lines with the colors and textures of natural elements. Her creations evoke the essence of abstract paintings that unfold like landscapes, blurring the boundary between functional ceramics and art. Her work is primarily inspired by nature, drawing influence from the sea, shells, flowers, leaves, and snow.
