Riso Porcelain is a fourth-generation kiln based in Arita, Saga Prefecture, the birthplace of Japanese porcelain. The kiln was founded in the late Meiji era by ceramic artist Shinichi Terauchi, who was invited to the region to teach at a crafts school. Its name pays homage to Yi Sam-pyeong, the Korean potter credited with discovering porcelain stone in Arita in 1616, as the kiln was established on the site of his former residence.

Situated on what was once known as Tokkuri Street, a historic hub for porcelain workshops, Riso Porcelain has remained a small and focused operation since its founding. Current president Shinji Terauchi, great-grandson of the founder, guides the kiln with the belief that "beautiful things are eternal," pursuing designs that balance deep respect for Arita's ceramic traditions with a commitment to forms that transcend fleeting trends.
