A collaboration of Cuir and Nabeshima
This cup & saucer is a beautiful collaboration between Hataman's Cuir collection and the Karahana pattern of the Nabeshima collection.
"Cuir," meaning "leather" in French, is a decorative expression technique characterized by a texture and luster reminiscent of leather.
The Karahana pattern is a floral design that gained popularity in China during the Tang dynasty and was later adopted in Japan during the Nara period due to its influence. It is a splendid pattern that incorporates various plant motifs such as lotus, palmetto, and peony.
Nabeshima Style
This traditional Edo-period artistry features a composition of one color (blue) and three accent hues (red, yellow, green), prominently highlighting red. The meticulously drawn lines and layered, subtle gradations evoke a dignified charm. This tribute-inspired design encapsulates ancient Japanese elegance with a touch of grandeur.
