2026 Porcelain Painting Workshop with Hataman Touen
Description
Hataman Touen returns to Los Angeles for a second year at a defining moment in its history. In 2026, the celebrated Japanese kiln marks a century of craftsmanship, bringing its legacy from the porcelain village of Okawachiyama to Los Angeles through a hands-on experience.
Led in person by fifth-generation master Shuuji Hataishi, this special 60-minute workshop invites participants to color a Bird of Paradise flower design using traditional overglaze painting techniques. Inspired by the official flower of Los Angeles, this limited-edition design was created exclusively for the event.
No ceramics or painting experience is required, and beginners are welcome. All tools, colors, and workshop supplies are provided.
