Born in Tokyo and based in Nakagawa, Tochigi Prefecture, Koichi Onozawa creates vessels, tableware, and sculptural works that fuse primitive beauty with contemporary expression. Trained in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture, and inspired by Momoyama-period and Korean ceramics, Onozawa combines traditional Japanese materials with refined, modern forms. His work embraces distortion, traces, and surface tension as expressions of fleeting vitality—seeking to connect people through the shared experience of beauty.
