Description
For 28 years, these charming Tongari Santa figures have been lovingly handmade, each one carved from wood with a sense of warmth and joy. What began as a small gift has grown into a tradition—Santa after Santa traveling far from the workshop, carrying smiles to homes around the world.
Each piece takes shape slowly, as if uncovering a story hidden within the wood. The artisans carve, refine, and gently bring out the expression that makes every Santa unique. No two are alike—each has its own face, its own beard, its own quiet personality.
And at the very end, the eyes are painted by hand. It’s a small moment when the figure feels alive, and it’s the part the artisans look forward to most.
This year again, with skilled hands and heartfelt care, each Tongari Santa is crafted one by one. If even one of these little Santas meets your gaze and becomes part of your holiday season, it would be the greatest gift to its makers.
A thoughtful, heartwarming piece to celebrate the season or to gift to someone special.

About Tongari Santa
Tongari Santa, whose name means "pointy Santa" in Japanese, is a hand-carved wooden figure made in Toyama, Japan, distinguished by its tall, tapered silhouette. Each figure is carved individually, with faces, beards, hairstyles, and buttons varying from piece to piece. The eyes are painted last, a moment the makers describe as when the figure finally comes to life. Now in its 28th year, the Tongari Santa is produced in collaboration with carvers from Inami, a district in Toyama with a 250-year tradition of woodcarving, with each piece still finished by hand.
