Takashi Kougei Cara Bowl
Description
Crafted from native Hokkaido linden wood, the Takahashi Kougei Cara Bowl traces the smooth, organic contours of an eggshell, designed to cradle effortlessly in the palm of your hand.
Because natural wood retains a low thermal conductivity, warm soups and dishes gently release their heat over time, keeping your meal comforting while remaining pleasantly cool to the touch. Remarkably lightweight yet inherently resilient, it brings a tactile, grounding alternative to conventional porcelain and glass.
This 6" bowl is a generous vessel perfectly suited for hearty cereals, rustic stews, and nourishing grain bowls.

About Takahashi Kougei
Takahashi Kougei is a woodturning workshop in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan. Woodturner Shoichi Takahashi founded it in 1965, first making decorative furniture legs. In the 1980s, as demand for furniture fell, the workshop began turning cups and sugar pots on the lathe. It is considered a pioneer of wooden tableware in Asahikawa. The workshop works mainly with Hokkaido wood and makes simple, functional tableware that keeps the texture of the grain. Its best-known line is the Kami glass series. Hidetoshi Takahashi has led the company since 2009. Takahashi Kougei sees its work as a link between the mountains and the people who use the wood. Felling the right amount of timber lets the forest breathe and young trees grow. Wood feels soft and warm in the hand, and brings a quiet pause to a busy day.
