Takashi Kougei Cara Mug
Description
Inspired by the delicate, sweeping curves of an eggshell, the Takahashi Kougei Cara Mug brings a sense of quiet tranquility and tactile comfort to your daily morning ritual.
Sculpted from native Japanese linden harvested in Hokkaido, its soft, organic silhouette is thoughtfully contoured to nestle effortlessly in the palm of your hand. Naturally low in thermal conductivity, the gentle wooden form insulates your hot tea or coffee—keeping your drink pleasantly warm while remaining cool and comfortable to the touch. Remarkably lightweight yet inherently resilient, it offers a grounded, shatter-resistant alternative to traditional ceramic or glass.

About Takahashi Kougei
Takahashi Kougei is a woodturning workshop in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan. Woodturner Shoichi Takahashi founded it in 1965, first making decorative furniture legs. In the 1980s, as demand for furniture fell, the workshop began turning cups and sugar pots on the lathe. It is considered a pioneer of wooden tableware in Asahikawa. The workshop works mainly with Hokkaido wood and makes simple, functional tableware that keeps the texture of the grain. Its best-known line is the Kami glass series. Hidetoshi Takahashi has led the company since 2009. Takahashi Kougei sees its work as a link between the mountains and the people who use the wood. Felling the right amount of timber lets the forest breathe and young trees grow. Wood feels soft and warm in the hand, and brings a quiet pause to a busy day.
