Description

Inspired by the grace of the orchid flower, the "Ran" rock glass is a stunning showcase of Temma Kiriko’s signature Kamaboko-bori (smooth, U-shaped cutting) technique. The soft, rounded grooves are meticulously carved to mimic delicate petals. When a drink is poured, the glass comes alive: the intricate reflections from the base project onto the sides in fine, shimmering detail, mimicking the breathtaking moment a flower opens into full bloom.

About Temma Kiriko (天満切子)

Founded in 1933 in Temma, Osaka, Temma Kiriko is a long-established Kiriko glassware brand with over 90 years of craftsmanship passed down through three generations of the Ura family. Each piece is meticulously hand-cut using a U-shaped technique known as "Kamaboko-bori" on colored overlay glass, requiring exceptional skill and dedication. When liquid is poured, the patterns cut into the bottom reflect onto the sides in a stunning kaleidoscopic display.

In 2000, Kiriko Kobo RAU introduced Temma Kiriko as Osaka's own distinct style of cut glass, guided by the philosophy of "The Beauty When Admiring and the Beauty When Using." In 2019, the brand gained global recognition when its rock glasses were presented as official gifts to world leaders at the G20 Summit in Osaka. Today, under third-generation stewardship, Temma Kiriko remains a proud symbol of Osaka's glassmaking heritage — crafting heirloom-quality pieces meant to be cherished for generations to come.
