This mukōzuke is shaped like a flower. Mukōzuke is a dishware used to serve the first course in a kaiseki meal. The piece is wheel-thrown, then cut and shaped into a flower form. A soft peach-colored glaze is applied, with a layer of iron glaze along the edges.
Originally designed as a mukōzuke, it would also work beautifully for serving fruits or ice cream.
Not dishwasher or microwave recommended.
As each piece is handmade, slight variations in color, shape, and size may occur compared to the photographs.

ABOUT YUKO IKEDA (池田優子)
Yuko Ikeda, a graphic design graduate from Platt College in San Diego, began teaching herself ceramics after returning to Japan. Now based in Osaka, she focuses on solo exhibitions where her work blends fluid, expressive lines with the colors and textures of natural elements. Her creations evoke the essence of abstract paintings that unfold like landscapes, blurring the boundary between functional ceramics and art. Her work is primarily inspired by nature, drawing influence from the sea, shells, flowers, leaves, and snow.
