Yuko Ikeda (池田優子)

Yuko Ikeda, one of the most acclaimed and respected artists in Japan’s contemporary ceramic scene, presents her first U.S. solo exhibition at ARJ Los Angeles.

There’s a quiet story within each work by Yuko Ikeda. Her pieces might rest like modern masterpieces in a gallery—or feel like relics shaped by nature, discovered along the shore. Each vessel carries a distinct presence, inviting reflection and gentle curiosity.

From her studio in Osaka, Ikeda often retreats to her beach house, where she draws inspiration from the natural world—seashells, waves, petals, leaves, and snowfall. Her ceramics echo these elements through fluid forms and layered textures, unfolding like landscapes and evoking the quiet depth of abstract painting.

Her intuitive and unbounded approach has influenced a new generation of artists in Japan. Now focused on solo exhibitions, she continues to create collections that reflect her evolving inner world—delicate yet bold, grounded yet full of movement.

We will be showcasing over 70 works, including one-of-a-kind pieces alongside flower vases, teaware, large bowls, and cups.

Join us at ARJ Los Angeles to experience the poetic, painterly world of Yuko Ikeda’s solo exhibition.
